At MINT Clinic, we are committed to providing safe, respectful, compassionate and high-quality healthcare for every patient. In return, we ask all patients, family members, carers and visitors to treat our doctors, nurses, practitioners and administrative team with the same respect. This Code of Conduct helps ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
We Ask That Patients
Treat everyone with respect
Please:
* Be courteous and respectful to all staff and other patients.
* Communicate calmly, even when you are upset or frustrated.
* Respect the privacy and dignity of others.
Help us provide the best care
Please:
* Arrive on time for appointments.
* Provide accurate and complete health information.
* Advise us if you cannot attend your appointment.
* Follow agreed treatment plans where appropriate.
* Ask questions if you do not understand your care.
Communicate appropriately
We understand healthcare can be stressful. However, we expect all communication, whether in person, by telephone, email, SMS or social media, to remain respectful.
Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours will not be tolerated:
* Verbal abuse, yelling or swearing.
* Threatening or intimidating behaviour.
* Aggressive or violent behaviour.
* Bullying or harassment of staff or other patients.
* Discrimination, racism or sexual harassment.
* Filming or recording staff or patients without consent.
* Damage to clinic property.
* Theft.
* Attending the clinic while affected by illicit drugs or alcohol where this creates a safety risk.
* Repeated abusive or excessive emails, phone calls or social media messages.
* Making false, malicious or defamatory statements about staff or the clinic.
* Behaviour that causes staff or other patients to feel unsafe.
If These Standards Are Not Met
Depending on the circumstances, MINT Clinic may:
* Ask you to modify your behaviour.
* End a consultation.
* Ask you to leave the premises.
* Refuse service on the day.
* Issue a written warning.
* Require you to enter into an acceptable behaviour agreement.
* Discharge you from the clinic and cease providing ongoing care (where clinically and legally appropriate).
* Contact Victoria Police where there is a threat to the safety of staff or patients.
Our Commitment to Safety
MINT Clinic has a zero-tolerance approach to violence, threats, intimidation and harassment towards our team or other patients. Our staff have the right to work in a safe environment and are supported to take appropriate action when unacceptable behaviour occurs.
