IV Therapy at MINT Clinic

Doctor-led IV infusions in Collingwood, prescribed after a health assessment and administered by experienced registered nurses.

NURSE-ASSESSED · DOCTOR-PRESCRIBED · NURSE ADMINISTERED

At MINT, IV therapy is part of medical care, not a walk-in menu. Every new patient starts with a complimentary consultation with one of our IV nurses. Our doctors then decide whether an infusion is suitable for you and what it should contain.

How IV therapy works at MINT

  1. Complimentary nurse consultation. One of our registered nurses takes your medical history, medications and goals, completes a health screening, and recommends an infusion suited to you.
  2. Doctor authorisation. A MINT doctor reviews the nurse's recommendation and prescribes your infusion. If more information is needed, the doctor may request blood tests or a consultation. Our doctors oversee all IV treatment at MINT.
  3. Informed consent. Before any treatment, we explain what your infusion contains, the possible risks and benefits, and the alternatives. You can ask questions and decide in your own time.
  4. Your infusion. A registered nurse administers your infusion in our private IV lounge and monitors you throughout. Most infusions take 60 to 90 minutes.
  5. Review. Your doctor reviews whether any further treatment is needed. There is no expectation of ongoing infusions.

Why MINT

  1. Every infusion is prescribed by a doctor following an individual assessment.
  2. Infusions are administered by registered nurses with hospital, emergency and critical care backgrounds.
  3. Treatment takes place in a medical clinic with clinical hygiene and emergency protocols.
  4. IV therapy sits within your wider care with our integrative GPs, so it is never considered in isolation.

FAQs

Risks & Suitability

As with any procedure involving a needle and a vein, IV therapy carries risks. These can include bruising, discomfort or inflammation at the cannula site, infection, and reactions to the infused substances, which in rare cases can be serious.

IV therapy may not be suitable if you have certain medical conditions, including some kidney, heart or blood disorders, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This is why every patient is assessed by a doctor first.

Your doctor will discuss the risks that apply to you before you decide whether to proceed. Our nurses monitor you throughout your infusion, and the clinic has emergency procedures in place.
